All around the country and across Europe (and the rest of the world) scooterists are slowly getting back to what they enjoy, riding scooters, meeting up with friends and having a laugh.
There’s no doubt that this pandemic has affected us all deeply but as things open up again we also start to remember what we’ve been missing out on. From local and National rallies to scooter racing, local ride outs, club meetings and a ride with a group of mates.
Well, we’re back in the land of the living at last and are pleased to bring coverage of events to the virtual pages of SLUK once again – like this south east ride out where Booga nipped to Bognor for an ice cream with a few Wasps recently…
Iggy
After the less than perfect weather of The Farmyard Bash it was back to regular checks of the weather forecast, which was threatening showers on the day, but fortunately, the weather on the Sunday turned out to be a really nice day for a ride, so I was off, picking up other south coast riders along the way, arriving at Bognor about 1 pm and the place was already pretty busy.
Now, it’s worth pointing out at this point that there was not going to be any DJ’s, music or bands, this was going to be just an old school meet and all the better for it.
We end up in The Brewers Fayre car park on the seafront as this is the only place that has enough space for the scoots, though there are more all along the seafront. Ooo look, an ice cream shop! ‘Hellos’ can wait!
Now armed with an ice cream (it was yummy) I catch up with yet more people I haven’t seen since lockdown, and you know what, it’s great, everyone’s got a smile on their face for today the sun really did shine on the righteous.
Sadly it wasn’t such a great day for two of the Wasps, Rob and Malcolm came off on the way down. Wishing them both a speedy and complete recovery.
