    Peugeot chose last week’s EICMA show to unveil a couple of new scooters.  They also chose it to announce their return to the motorcycle market, with the introduction of a couple of new cafe racer style ‘P2X’ bikes (125cc and 300cc) and the rebirth of ‘Peugeot Motocycles’ (say it with a French accent). Aside from new colours (and dashcams) for the ‘120 Ans’ special edition Metropolis, the biggest news was the introduction of a completely new model and the showing of an old favourite, albeit in electric guise. They were also one of very few manufacturers to unveil a new two-stroke, engine, albeit the lowly 50cc Kisbee. Still a new 2-stroke though and it made my ears prick up momentarily.    If you’re heading to Motorcycle Live at the NEC next week here are a few models you might want to check out on the Peugeot stand….    
Peugeot Pulsion
  Peugeot Pulsion   Not only is this a new model but Peugeot also want to invent a new class by mixing the GT and Compact GT scooter segments to make an ‘urban GT’. The Pulsion is a high spec 125cc scooter designed for the city as part of Peugeot’s “Reshape your city life.” mantra.   Features  

  • Powerful 14.6bhp, 125cc, liquid-cooled PowerMotion® engine
  • Automatic hazard warning lights during emergency braking
  • ABS and linked brakes
  • Keyless ignition with ‘Find-Me’ function
  • i-Connect system®

  i-Connect®   Derived from Peugeot cars, i-Connect® aims to offer ‘heads-up-steering’ thanks to the ergonomic position of the TFT screen and a “rider-scooter-position” ergonomic steering triangle. Designed to reduce motion during manoeuvres and offer a relaxed riding position thanks to the curvature of the handlebars. i-Connect® has integrated GPS, can receive calls, SMS and other social media notifications (hopefully only whilst the scooter is stationary).

The new e-Ludix should be fun

  e-Ludix   Peugeot are keeping to their promise of launching a new electric model each year by bringing us the best-selling Ludix as an e-scooter. The lightweight scooter is perfect for electrifying and fits neatly into the European licence free 50cc equivalent bracket – meaning 14-years-old and above can ride them in most parts of Europe (unless you live in England of course where you need either a full car licence obtained before 2002, or a CBT to ride one).   The e-Ludix comes with removable Lithium-ion Bosch batteries, which give a range of 31 miles. The scooter will be available around this time next year.    Peugeot 2.0   The Ludix comes after the Peugeot 2.0 electric utility and sharing scooter. Launched on the streets of Antwerp as a ‘sharing scooter’ in August, the 2.0 has a large luggage capacity making it ideal for commercial users. It’s fully connected, has a touchscreen, a 2kw removable lithium-ion battery and 3.2kw motor offering 0-30mph in 10 seconds.

  e-Metropolis concept   Now we’re talking, the e-Metropolis concept will bring us an 85mph, 35kw three-wheeled electric scooter. It will have an onboard charger behind a trapdoor between the front lights but with a range of 125 miles, you’ll not need to use it every day.   The e-Metropolis is much lighter than the standard petrol version so the ride is said to give a feeling of “Floating on air” and the rear suspension has been upgraded to an Öhlins mono shock. The e-Metropolis will be the flagship Metropolis model and can be ridden on a full car licence making it accessible to people without a bike licence. We’re not sure when we’ll get the production version but the scooter was proudly paraded during the Mondial de la Motor Show in Paris at the end of September as part of the 120-year celebrations of both Peugeot Motocycles and the show itself. 

 

This is one electric scooter we’ll look forward to riding…
